There is no left or right, just forward or backwards. We are all Americans in one nation, together. We work together from all walks of life and different parts of the world. This is what makes us such a great country. So many hard working people and yet, our current leadership has created higher taxes. A burden on the backs of Americans. This is not sustainable, ever!
There is a difference between helping Americans, and supporting Americans. One is temporary and the other is a tax burden causing more problems for the country as a whole.
Government does NOT do this at all. Government does not make money in business, they only take away by taxing, and finding more ways to tax further. This slows down economic growth. If businesses did not have such restrictions or over regulations, they can pour money into expanding, which brings more jobs. Using housing as an example, they build more homes, which increases inventory. Think supply and demand.
Government should not be in the way except for ensuring the safety of our citizens, our environment and for our future generations.
A worker hammering on a house I was looking to purchase said to me once, and only once, a quote that I will never forget...
No poor man ever gave me a job.
We need to be fair and protect everyone. People with money, start businesses. The founders who started Google created so many jobs for people, wealth for many and support so many others in the money they spend locally. Leaders need to stop looking to tax the rich and instead show leadership that they too can become successful. Finding out what is stopping people from starting a business is also key. I know there are too many regulations. As I speak with people, even someone who wants to walk dogs, the permit fees are going up every year. These costs get passed to consumers. Why is it expensive? Easy answer: government is doing this with the notion to tax the rich. Very counter productive method entirely!
We need to protect all citizens, no matter how successful they are. Punishing people because they are successful is not helping our area nor our state. It has helped other states unfortunately.
Bottom line, don't punish those who are successful. There are other states that welcome successful people. And we are losing them. Each person that is successful, we are losing a multiple number of others who are not counted.
There is nothing wrong with safety of American citizens, especially the children.
We need to do better as a country. Supporting those who risked their lives and continue to ensure we preserve our freedoms. They are to be honored and respected. They in turn, become integrated into our work force, or even as police officers. Respect for anyone, and everyone in America needs good positive leadership!
This section covers a few different sections but fall under the same topic. Girls sports should be protected and not threatened with men competing. No surgery or claim of being a girl when science and biology shows someone is male will make that person a female. Plain and simple, straight to the point.
By real example, the woman's national soccer team of Australia ranked #5 in the world, played a team of boys under the age of 15. The final score 7 to 0, boys won. Not even close, not even once the women (not girls) scored. Switzerland national team was beaten by boys under age 14 with the score 7 to 1. We had sports separated and why it changed in recent years is not acceptable at all. Protect women. Protect sports.
Safety of girls in bathrooms is another piece of this puzzle. I will ensure school comply with just plain common sense to protect children.
Passports - when the USA uses anything else but a person's true biological gender, this causes issues with other countries. It's not a true identification. This is pure non-sense. The ID needs to reflect what is true and not what is thought of.
Seeing even the country of Iran, you have to have your birth certificate to vote should be no different than here. We did not need ID's in the past because we did not have a large influx of illegals allowed into the United States. Because of this, push for voter ID is becoming popular among a vast majority of citizens.
Because California passed AB60 in 2015, this allowed illegals to get California driver license. As we further complicate our integrity within the United States, we make it difficult for simple protections such as an ID card to vote.
There is a continual attack on Prop 13. I support Prop 13 for a long list of reasons to protect Americans. This includes both tenants and landlords alike. I too have been a renter, and currently a landlord. The continual attacks against property owners hurts families who rent.
I have helped explain to many how Prop 13 affects them [renters]. When politicians push for a tax against property owners for $100/month, they end up costing the renter $200/month. The shock shows with frustration why $200/month.
It's simple math but everything has to be included, using an example of 25% tax rate for each (and it can vary). A renter needs to make $200 extra atop the rent in order to pay taxes and finally come up with $150 to the landlord. Now the landlord has to pay 25% tax on that income to now have about $110. Lastly, the landlord now pays that $100/month extra. The government now has received three taxes total for the people who voted for a single tax.
There have been pieces of Prop 13 chipped away and are currently being attacked. It has never stopped. California has enough tax revenue. Stop taxing citizens to the point where they may leave....which is happening already.
This is a very important topic that encompasses safety to our community, and helping those to legally immigrate to the United States. The lines have been blurred. Legal immigration is not the same as someone who is called a migrant. Let's stop with the argument, and come with solutions. We have laws on the books, and not only did my father follow the laws from the 1960's, I too in 2008 followed the laws. The USCIS is actually very helpful. You can call as often as you need to, fill out the paperwork and wait. I awaited one and a half years. I want a safe America always and would wait to respect my country's laws.
Solution for farmers: Farmers want labor for the fields. There are ways to apply for temporary visa's for farm workers. Every other country has laws regarding immigration and work visa's and so does the United States. They need to be respected as they were put on the books for the people, by the people.
Solution for immigrants: If people want to immigrate to the United States, there are ways to apply for a visa. This is the solution, which is already in place. Leaders in power should help direct people to legal ways to apply.
I'll use an example. I want to purchase a candy bar that cost $1. The person behind me is Elon Musk. His cost is $100 for the same candy bar. This is not how businesses operate. Sell a product for a price. It is up to the person if they want to purchase or not.
So for health care (not insurance), a solution of getting costs back down for care. It should not cost $5,400 for a simple ambulance ride when they bill the person just $863. They charge the insurance companies sky high costs, which end up on the bills of Americans. Again, current health care is a blank check from the US government. When government steps in, costs have skyrocketed. Government is not in the business to provide health care. Businesses have done a great job on their own which have helped people.
Not even 25 years ago, I've met many people from Canada. They would come to the United States in droves for medical care. I asked why and they said I can come, pay money, get my medical needs done with top quality care. I asked why not in Canada. They said government tells you if you can have something done. And if so, they delay it out.
The farmland around Moss Landing is too precious to foul with toxic metals. There are papers published around the world in regards to the deterioration of such batteries with an increase in moisture. I know the moisture is high from running trains into Moss Landing itself. The rails would rust in less than a week so badly that the gates would not go down in time. So for Moss Landing large battery array, it's not a matter of if, but when again.
Just in San Jose, CA, someone tried to put out the flames of an EV bike. He passed away from the toxic fumes. EV technology is dangerous. If they catch fire, they produce toxic fumes. The heavy metals such as cobalt-60 contaminate our crops.
If you have 10 people looking for homes and 20 homes on the market, prices are softer. Change to 20 people looking and only 10 homes available, prices will be higher purely by competition. With government regulations making it difficult to build, creates this condition.
HOAs - a topic that I see in real estate constantly as a problem. Homes built because government wants to pass more costs to consumers is wrong. In a 10 year span, a client has a property with $610/month HOA. Now it's over $1,000/month with an emergency of almost another $1,000/month for three years. Retired, this is a cost that becomes very difficult. Prices of units sold just 10 months earlier were selling for $905k to $933k. With this adjustment, a unit now sold for $625k.
I am proposing ideas such as emergency increases, which by CA law they can, a company running the HOA cannot collect a percentage or fee for the emergency amount. In this real example, the company collects 20%. That's about $200/unit. Add the emergency increase now makes it $300/unit. If there is an emergency to fix something, all funds for that should be for the emergency.
Bottom line is for new housing without HOA's helps Americans. We need to preserve the American dream of owning a home, without such burdens to people.
The very laws that are intended to help renters, are the very same laws creating a scarce number of units available. This has been proven in Argentina. Get rid of the regulations and restrictions, and available units will rise. Many don't rent out their properties because of regulations. People should be free and that will lead to a healthy economy.
This is a topic that everyone has an idea, but the solutions presented all create further inflation. There is no reason, why we cannot have 0% inflation. In fact, with the workings of a capitalist economy, lower prices and better products are the key driving forces that give consumers the best deal.
Some examples of what causes high inflation are simple. Let's use the example of a piece of lumber. Aside of market conditions such as supply and demand, adding costs increases the cost of the lumber. The owner of the land has taxes to pay, the lumber jack who now has health care cost added to their wages has an increased cost. Don't forget the people who transport it to the mill. The mill workers who handle the lumber. The transportation has truckers or railroad who then move the product adds costs. The distribution center also has employees who all need to be paid with health care cost in their salary. Then the employees at the store, even down to the cashier. Now, add up each employee who handled that piece of lumber with only health care, and you now have a product who's price is much higher than it was before.
In the old days, companies had better options with better insurance for employees. I know, I was one of them. Insurance was included on the first day of employment in the 1990's. Today, one has to wait 90 days, then start the 1st of the month that is not after the 2nd of the month. Start January, one has to pay and not able to use benefits until May of that year.
Sure, cover preexisting conditions is a good idea. But the health care plans paid by government is hurting not only the market, but the value of our money. Keep government out and let the free markets handle the needs of the people. It has worked in the past and with our current government involvement, it has resulted in side affects hurting America as a whole.
We need funding for projects here. The basics from government should be things like improvements of highways, bridges, airports, police, fire, libraries, etc. One project, if not started is an over crossing at CA-183 and CA-1.
Again, boots on the ground to find out from locals in my district for resolving such issues. Highway 1 itself between Watsonville and just north of Marina is congested two lane highway.
The American government should help seek out and with power, work with the other governments to extinguish these scam call centers as they have scammed out over $12.5 billion just in 2024! This represents the money Americans have lost to scammers. We can do something about it! Work with companies to stop them using local hosted servers that can make calls. Phone companies already have created honey pot numbers. We need to work with governments in those countries to go after these criminals as well as try to recover the funds back. They do keep logs there.
My experiences seeing the evolution of the internet has been interesting to say the least. I've been on the internet since 1988 when everything was ASCII text and scholars from universities, companies and government were "somewhat" connected. Today, companies sell off your information because the public has signed the legal documents written by lawyers and yet, the public agrees without fully understanding what rights are given up.
My idea is to have a two part agreement. The initial part is to summarize the full notion into three sentences or less. For example using social media, the company should state "your name, address, phone number, contacts list, text messages, geo location, history of browsing, will be sold to company X,Y,Z for $2 each, which then post ads on your cell phone, computer, email, etc. Your data will be kept on their databases for X months." As long as the consumer knows what is happening, they have a choice to agree, which will then resort to the full long Terms Of Service Agreement or made a choice to disagree.
But it doesn't stop there. Cars being sold are now having agreements made for monthly costs. Heated seats cost $18/months. Consumers did a great job to push back. Don't think this will end. Manufactures will continue with these ideas. In DC, an ambulance engine stopped because a computer detected DEF fluid was zero, stopped the engine in order to protect the environment. The patient sadly died. Too much computer control and subscriptions will hurt society, and take away freedom. The younger generation is used to subscription based entertainment such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.
Bottom line, the simple cars in the past are now computers on wheels. The distraction of a computer screen takes away safety, including cell phones. New technologies that read ads while driving to only display on the screen in front of you shows a disregard to safety. There should be guard rails to keep the public safe from distracting and unsafe technology.
Finding how government is limited citizens to prosper is key. There is no divide or special privileges. There are a variety of niches throughout. Santa Cruz is very different than El Paso de Robles. Rural areas along the coast versus inland or the Santa Cruz Mountains. One has to be careful to ensure with positive leadership and the attitude to find solutions for our district help people and not restrict positive growth.
I want to find out what is slowing down businesses, including why people who have great ideas, cannot start a business. I know there are too many unnecessary regulations, and high fees (permits, etc).
